Quilt Pattern: Split
Rail Fence
Quilt Size: 36.5 x 60" Block Size: About 8" Machine Pieced and Quilted Date Made: 2002 While taking a beginning machine piecing class from Mary McCusker, owner of Santa Fe Quilting, she suggested we make a baby quilt as one of our assignments. My co-worker, Devin, and his wife, Keely, were expecting a baby, so this seemed an ideal opportunity. Keely had a large quilt that her grandmother had made. She wanted to use that on the wall of the baby's room, because it was too fragile (and too large) to use for the crib. We took the older quilt to Santa Fe Quilting to select the fabric for the new baby quilt. It had unusual colors for a baby quilt, but that was fun. I even pieced the back, because I ran out of just green fabric. Photos, top to bottom: Front of quilt. Back of quilt. Signature block, using my snazzy new machine (a Kenmore/Janome), which has lettering. |
