Quilt
Pattern: Double Pinwheel
Quilt Size: 35 x 60" Block Size: About 7" Machine Pieced and Quilted Date Made: May 2002 My cousins Josh and Michalle were expecting. I was unable to go to the shower, because I live in a different state than they do. However, I sent this quilt along with my mom to the shower. (It's nerve-wracking sending a quilt any other way than hand-delivery!) The pattern is from the Double Pinwheel book in the Quilt-in-a-Day series by Eleanor Burns. Eleanor is a terrific person--how lucky we quilters are to have her! I got to meet her right-hand woman, Sue Bouchard, at the International Quilt Festival in Houston in Fall of 2002. Michalle was putting a twin-size bed in Bella's room, so I tried to make this coordinate with the bedspread somewhat. The fabric is from the "Color Profusion" collection by Susie Robbins. The back has red and white toile, to match the twin bedspread. I'm not sure about using this for a baby quilt, though. I think people use baby quilts more on the floor for the baby to sleep or crawl upon than as a crib quilt, and it's very lumpy where those eight points come together! Photos, top to bottom: Front of quilt. Detail of quilt. Josh and Michalle with the quilt. This is a better rendition of the actual colors. |
